Sunshine Coast Holidays

The Sunshine Coast has a sub-tropical climate which is cooled off in the summer months by its coastal breezes. This place is paradise. The inland areas are a bit warmer except in the ranges. The Sunshine Coast is definitely on the tourist route whichever way you travel and should not be missed.

The two main tourist areas are:
Maroochydore/Mooloolaba - Noosa Heads

The first is more orientated to family style vacations, while Noosa definitely has that international flavour.

This is the most unexplored and overlooked part of the Australian Coast. The Glass House mountains and the Blackall Range act as a backdrop to this beautiful coastline, adding a dramatic effect. The opposite of the Gold Coast; it begins an hour's drive north of Brisbane and is a quiet alternative to its southern counterpart. The many fantastic, safe and patrolled beaches with a variety of coves, make this a water sports heaven. The perfect place for a sunshine coast hinterland getaway.

Noosa

Nicknamed the "Tuscany of the South Pacific" and once you have stayed here you will see why. It's fantastic. Noosa is situated on Laguna Bay which has a northern facing beach that is as safe as any you will find anywhere. With water that we all say resembles the Bahamas - that crystal blue over white sand stuff, and with the bay sun drenched all day and the Noosa Hill to protect you from the wind, it is a perfect spot to enjoy a day on the beach. With accommodation varying from backpackers to International resorts, every type of budget is catered for. Right on Noosa Beach are a number of hotels, resorts and apartments which open onto probably one of the best views on the Sunshine Coast. A different style to cope with all budgets from the deluxe penthouses to family accommodation.

At the northern end of the beach the Noosa River flows into Laguna Bay and it is along the river that you will find a number of accommodation houses that cater more for the families who come to holiday. The Noosa River is a great place to relax and unwind . The promenade along the river is a favourite gathering place for locals with picnic grounds, play ground for the kids, and great B.B.Q facilities. On the river front are a number of hire outlets, who will hire just about anything you can think of. From small tinnies(aluminium boats) for fishing, catamarans, jet skis, rollerblades and other sports equipment, all needs are catered for. Noosa also has a few charter fishing operators for those looking for game fish and a dive outlet for the Scuba Divers out there. The Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club is a facility that offers the usual club activities and Weekend Sailing events, where you can sit on the balcony and watch the yachts fight it out to be first home. For more things to do visit our Guide to Noosa.

One of the best things to do in the Noosa area is eat. With many award winning restaurants of many different cuisine's, the hardest choice is to decide what and where. The locals all have their favourites, so just chat away and you will be pointed in the right direction.

One of Noosa's favourite and most beautiful attractions is the Noosa National Park which is fiercely protected. 432 hectares of tranquil rain forest, coastal walks and tracks, it is a great way to see the natural vegetation of the area. Home to many native animals, spotting Koalas is common. I highly recommend the coastal track. It offers fantastic views, access to sheltered coves and glorious beaches. All up it is a 2.7 km walk and the view from the Hells Gate is a must.

If you are into shopping, your destination will be Hastings Street. With many of Australia's best shops, you had better pack that credit card. Exclusive is probably the catch word with a large variety of outlets to tempt you.

Maroochydore and Mooloolaba

A shoppers paradise with the successful opening of the Sunshine Plaza Mall. The Sunshine coast lives up to it's reputation of the Queensland Motto "Beautiful one day Perfect the next". There is so much to see and do here, that a stop would enhance any holiday vacation.
